Infrastructure

Dr. PAULS ENGINEERING COLLEGE is built on a land area measuring 64 acres at Pauls Nagar, which is situated along NH 66, in between 12 kms from Puducherry and 24 Km from Tindivanam. Apart from being India’s first fully air-conditioned college, we are very proud to say that we have a panoramic vista with a leveled landscape which is brought to life by lush greenery and architectural fantasy and beautification.

With constant increasing of built up and infrastructure facilities, our main block which measures a total area of 2,10,000 sq.ft with four floors bears testimony to the state of the art of infrastructure facility, architectural brilliance, eco-friendliness and excellent layout. Beyond all, we are proud to say that there is also a stand by Power generator with power station provided inside the campus.

Administrative Building

Administrative building has been built in the campus with floor space of more than 15000 sq. ft. with cubicles for individual operations and is fully air-conditioned. This comprises the offices of Chairman, Directors, Principal, Administrative Officer, Liaison Officer, Accountant and other administrating and auxiliary staff. A separate Security Office is also provided adjacent to the Administrative building.

Main Building

The main building comprises of 4 floors consisting classrooms and laboratories. Each floor has separate common rooms for boys and girls. Besides, each floor has well furnished department-wise staff room situated in the middle of each floor. Each staff room is provided with internet-linked computer systems along with all amenities. Each floor is installed with water purifiers with water-coolers that deliver fresh and chilled water for the consumption of staff and students. A separate rest room is provided in each floor for the use of students in a crisis. All the floors are covered by video through auto-focusing cameras for the Principal to observe the discipline, movement of staff and students. In fact, this facilitates the management to manage the Institution. Apart from wide stair cases for the use of staff and students, two separate lifts are provided for the exclusive use during emergency by one and all. Floor Managers are taking care among staff and students in maintaining well disciplined, peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in the main building.

Class Room

All the classrooms are provided with well-lit and ventilated facilities. The rooms are well furnished for the convenience of the students and staffs. Considering the age of technical Video conferencing, e-learning, etc, the trends of the modern day, each classroom is provided with a TV and video conferencing facility that has been linked with EDUSAT.

Library

The college has a central library that has a wide range of collection of books & reference books, spanning nearly 25,000 volumes and journals. It has a seating capacity of hundred students at a time. Standard textbooks and subject books written by well-known authors are stocked, and every effort is being made to obtain all titles which are recommended by the faculty periodically. Multiple copies of popular books are bought to make available to students as possible. We also subscribe to 215 journals and magazines. It is being a continuous effort to add more number of volumes every year to cater to the knowledge quest of our students and faculy.

Laboratories

Each floor has two well-lit computerized labs outfitted with latest well furnished dual core Computer Systems with air-conditioned environment, conducive to students and staff. Each of the labs has a total of 60 systems which are well networked and easily accessible to broadband Internet round the clock. In fact, there are 6 such labs belonging to different Departments with a total of more than 400 systems inclusive of the systems in the Administrative office and with Heads of the Departments. Apart from this, separately built Laboratories especially for Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering and additionally laboratories for the Departments of Electrical, Electronics and Communications are in existence.

Auditorium

A well furnished auditorium is situated just a block away from the main college building. It consists of all the latest gadgets of the audio systems, the high sounding speakers/mikes, LCD Projectors and OHPs and well decorated lighting arrangements with podiums, a vast dais for performing cultural programmes and presentation of seminars and symposiums. The auditorium is having the seating capacity of 600 audiences.

Dining Hall

A spotless, well maintained and spacious dining hall to accommodate 1000 students to dine at a time has been set-up to serve delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. There is a separate dining hall for girls. A hygienic kitchen with all modern amenities is attached. The nutritious food is prepared with the help of unique steam cooking equipment. Food is served hot by uniformed caterers. Different timings are maintained in catering food to one and all. Most interestingly, all the employees, students, staff and visitors are served the same graded food without any differentiation. Hot water, in times of need, is also provided. Tea and snacks too are provided to one and all twice a day.

Hostel

To have a feeling of ‘A Home Away From Home’, our hostel complex is a comfortable place to stay; supplies delicious food, free washing and ironing of clothes. Two boy’s hostels accommodating 400 boys are available inside campus and a separate girl’s hostel with 150 student’s capacity is available at Puducherry. Full time resident wardens are available to take care of hostellers and to maintain the discipline. A stand by power generator is available with full time attendant in the hostel to operate during power failures. A television hall with satellite facility is provided for the student and movies are screened through LCD projector on Saturdays. Separate telephone lines are provided to receive the incoming calls. A new hostel building is under construction which can accommodate 440 students.

Playground

As part of its success PEC emphasizes the importance of Sports and Games and considers it an integral part of the student experience. The college has numerous outdoor playgrounds spread over 10 acre area, including.

• Two volleyball courts
• Basketball court
• Swimming Pool

Expert coaching is provided by Physical Directors for promising athletes and other sports persons. There are instructors in KARATE and YOGA too.

GYM

According to adage, "sound mind resides in a healthy body." Our Institute has a well equipped Gymnasium, separately for men and women. Both the gyms are spacious and well equipped with modern facilities.

Transport

The college has its own transport facilities, the transport facilities includes 20 well maintained college buses, which smoothly operates in bringing our students to college in time and also in taking them back safely to their home. The buses are being operated to all important routes in Puducherry and also cover near by places such as Tindivanam, Cuddalore and Villupuram. We provide separate buses for girls and boys.
